Advocacy
The best way to incorporate global health perspectives at the hospital level is to create awareness of the issue and the need for change. When every member understands the possible contribution of the interventions being advocated for to patient care, it becomes easy to commence with the training process (Edmonson, 2017). As the nurse leader, is expected to support the rest of the staff to gain the necessary skills. For instance, providing training on the essentials of effective breastfeeding to the primary care providers to enhance the education provided to new mothers.
Impact on Local Practice
The incorporation of a global perspective is likely to make nursing leadership easier. The leader is able to advocate for evidence-based practices amongst the care givers using the already set objectives as per the global perspective. The leader is also able to show the rationale for change by demonstrating the potential care advancement that the interventions being proposed are likely to cause.
Global Perspective Role in Social Change
The presence of a global perspective helps advance local health practices and acts as a measure for social change. The local population is able to adopt policies that enhance the attainment of the set global goals (Figueroa, 2019). For instance, the presence of a global goal to reduce cost of care has led to the adoption of different measures at the level of practice. The nurse has to incorporate measures such as discharge education to reduce the chances of readmission. The population is expected to prioritize preventive care to reduce the cost of care.
