Hi class, this week is more individual work. It involves you explicitly defining your personal and professional purpose. The reason is that by doing this when value conflicts arise then we will find it easier to voice our values. Gentile believes (and I do too) that most of us tend to be susceptible to self-justifying biases or finding ways to justify our actions / words as positively motivated. By taking the time to honestly answer the questions provided in your homework this will help you be more prepared when inevitable value conflicts arise. It will really help you to watch the two short videos ("assignments of week 7") prior to working on your answers. Then start with a fresh WORD document and copy each question. Then after each question add your answer with an example to support your answer. The questions are in the areas of Personal Purpose, Self-Identity and Self Imagine. When finished put in drop box by Tuesday 6/15 11:59 pm. Thank you.

1. What are your personal goals?
2.What are your professional goals?
3.What impact do you want to have through your work?
4.Whom do you want to know you benefited, and in what ways?
5.What will make your professional life worthwhile?
Questions of Self identify
1. Are you a risk taker or risk averse? (explain)
2. What are the greatest risks you face in your line of healthcare work? (Are they personal or professional or societal)?
3. Do you deal well with conflict or are you nonconfrontational? Under what circumstances do you behave in each way?
4. Do you prefer communicating in person or in writing?
5. Do you assert your position with statements, or do you use questions to communicate?
6. Do you tend to feel the greatest loyalty to family, colleagues, your employer, or customers
Questions of Self Image
1. Do you see yourself as shrewd or naïve? Idealistic, opportunistic, or pragmatic?
2. Do you see yourself as a learner or a teacher?
3. Think of someone you deeply respect. What are the 2 or characteristics you most admire in this person?
