 Agency Synopsis

Identify regulatory agencies that regulate health and the health care system within the US, create a table listing your 5 regulatory agencies and address the following:

Describe the agency, level of regulatory authority (local, state, federal), scope of regulatory authority, and role within the US healthcare system.

Address relevance of the organization or the organization’s authority to the APRN/DNP graduate.

Describe relevance to specialty area, area of practice, or setting of practice. For an example, mental health. 

Submission Requirements:

In the table, write the 3 criteria above and respond to them.

The table is to be clear and concise and students will lose points for improper grammar, punctuation and misspelling.

The table is to be complete and thorough. It should include all items indicated in the assignment.

Incorporate at least 3 current (published within last five years) scholarly journal articles or primary legal sources (statutes, court opinions) within your work.

   Policy Analysis Paper

This assignment is an analysis of local, state, or federal health policy.

Select a state health policy reform innovation

Discuss the rationale for the policy, how it was adopted (e.g., federal waivers, passage by state legislature), the funding structure, and (to the extent statistical data are available) its impact. ethical outcome based on evidence.

Examples of state innovations include Maryland’s hospital rate setting, Vermont’s single payer system, and Massachusetts’ health reforms

Submission Requirements:

The paper is to be clear and concise and students will lose points for improper grammar, punctuation and misspelling.

The paper is to be formatted per current APA style, 5-7 pages in length, excluding the title, abstract and references page.

Incorporate a minimum of 5 current (published within last five years) scholarly journal articles or primary legal sources (statutes, court opinions) within your work.

Journal articles and books should be referenced according to current APA style.

Complete and submit the assignment by 11:59 PM ET Sunday.

Module 7 Discussion

 Health Care Disparities in LGBTQ 

Discuss how to close the health care disparities gap in the LGBTQ community?

  Presentation: Interest Groups 

The goal of this assignment is to familiarize students with interest groups. Please follow the steps below to complete your assignment.

Select an interest group (AARP, AHIP, Coalition for Health Services Research, Emergency Nurses Association, Pharma)

Discuss how they are pushing their agenda (i.e., mechanisms used to influence policy makers), key obstacles, and spending (consult the Center for Responsible Politics, www.opensecrets.org)

Investigate the interest group’s website and review their position statements, testimony, and consult media reports to obtain more information on the group’s lobbying efforts.

Submission Requirements:

Presentation is original work and logically organized. Followed current APA format including citation of references.

PowerPoint presentation with 5-8 slides were clear and easy to read. Speaker notes expanded upon and clarified content on the slides.

Incorporate a minimum of 4 current (published within last five years) scholarly journal articles or primary legal sources (statutes, court opinions) within your work.

Journal articles and books should be referenced according to current APA style.

Complete and submit the assignment by 11:59 PM ET Sunday.
