Purpose

Meaningful dialogue fosters the development of a learning community as ideas, perspectives, and knowledge are shared. This collaboration café supports the professional formation of the nurse practitioner role.
General Instructions
Electronic health records (EHRs) provide a database for an individual's healthcare data during healthcare encounters and the ability to exchange health information electronically. Consider an EHR with which you have had experience.
Include the following sections:

Week 2 Assignment: Information Systems Evaluation
Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to help the student develop competency in the analysis and evaluation of health information systems. This assignment supports the professional formation of the nurse practitioner practice role.
Due Date
Submit your presentation to the Dropbox by 11:59 p.m. MT Sunday at the end of Week 2.
Students are expected to submit assignments by the time they are due. Assignments submitted after the due date and time will receive a deduction of 10% of the total points possible for that assignment for each day the assignment is late. Assignments will be accepted, with a penalty as described, up to a maximum of three days late, after which point a zero will be recorded for the assignment. Quizzes and discussions are not considered assignments and are not part of the late assignment policy.

Information systems include the hardware and software that process data and information for problem-solving. Health information systems (HIS) provide information within the healthcare setting, which includes collecting, storing, and managing EHRs. Health information systems include both clinical and administrative information systems.
Select either an administrative information system or a clinical information system currently used within your organization. Create a PowerPoint Presentation and address the following requirements:
Use Microsoft PowerPoint to create the presentation. Submit the presentation as a .ppt or .pptx file to the Week 2 Dropbox.
