Advanced Pathophysiology Module 2 Discussion 2 Student’s Name University Course Professor Date Hematopoietic Contributing Factors for Iron Deficiency Anemia J.D., a 37-year-old woman, exhibits multiple risk factors for developing iron deficiency anemia (Wiafe et al., 2023). She has been experiencing intermenstrual bleeding and menorrhagia for two months, resulting in chronic blood loss and subsequent iron depletion. Moreover, her recent pregnancy history, with four pregnancies in four years, has likely heightened her iron requirements due to the fetus's and placenta's developmental needs. Why Constipation and Dehydration J.D.'s constipation and mild incontinence can be attributed to multiple factors. The utilization of diuretics in managing hypertension may lead to heightened urinary frequency and slight dehydration, which can potentially contribute to constipation (Arumugham & Shahin, 2020). The recent pregnancies she underwent may have impacted her pelvic floor muscles, potentially leading to the development of mild incontinence. Moreover, her persistent iron deficiency can affect the muscular tone of her gastrointestinal tract, resulting in constipation. Importance of Vitamin B12 and Folic Acid in Erythropoiesis Vitamin B12 and folic acid are essential for erythropoiesis, the red blood cell production process. Both vitamins are necessary for DNA synthesis and cell maturation (Wiafe et al., 2023). Deficiency in either vitamin can lead to megaloblastic anemia, characterized by the production of abnormally large and immature red blood cells. Clinical Symptoms of Iron Deficiency Anemia J.D. displays clinical symptoms indicative of iron deficiency anemia, resulting from the reduced oxygen-carrying capacity of her blood. Fatigue and weakness often occur due to compromised oxygen transportation. The insufficiency is apparent through pallor in her skin and mucous membranes. Tachycardia, a heightened heart rate, arises in response to compensate for decreased oxygen delivery. Breathlessness occurs when the body struggles to provide adequate oxygen to its tissues. The condition also causes cold extremities due to insufficient oxygen supply to peripheral regions.

Performance Driven Team Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Course Name Instructor Date Performance Driven Team Introduction A performance-driven team consists of highly motivated individuals committed to achieving goals and delivering exceptional results. They prioritize excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Such teams ' key characteristics are clear objectives, effective communication, and accountability. Motivation is crucial for team performance, driving engagement, proactivity, and dedication (Leonova et al., 2021). It provides the energy and enthusiasm to overcome challenges and strive for excellence. Motivated team members take ownership, seek growth, and contribute to collective success. Motivation enhances teamwork, collaboration, and communication, fostering a positive work environment. Characteristics of a Performance-Driven Team Clear Goals and Objectives Clear goals and objectives provide a roadmap for a performance-driven team (Liao, 2021). They define the team's purpose, outline expectations, and guide decision-making. Clear goals ensure all team members are aligned and working towards a common objective, fostering cohesion and unity. When team members clearly understand what needs to be accomplished, they can focus their efforts, prioritize tasks, and allocate resources effectively. Clear goals also help measure progress and evaluate performance, providing a sense of direction and motivation. Effective Communication Effective communication is a cornerstone of a performance-driven team. It facilitates the exchange of information, ideas, and feedback among team members, ensuring everyone is well-informed and on the same page. Good communication builds trust, enhances collaboration, and promotes a positive team dynamic (Campbell et al., 2020). Examples of effective communication strategies include active listening, open and honest dialogue, regular team meetings, and clear and concise messaging. Communicating effectively allows team members to share knowledge, resolve conflicts, and make informed decisions, leading to improved problem-solving and overall team performance. Accountability and Responsibility Accountability and responsibility are crucial for team performance. Accountability means taking ownership of one's actions and their impact on the team's goals. It involves honoring commitments, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality work. Responsibility refers to the duties and obligations assigned to each team member. When team members are accountable and responsible, they foster trust, reliability, and dependability. They are committed to achieving shared objectives, and their actions contribute to the team's success.

Week 1 discussion COMPREHENSIVE INTEGRATED PSYCHIATRIC ASSESSMENT Many assessment principles are the same for children and adults; however, unlike with adults/older adults, where consent for participation in the assessment comes from the actual client, with children it is the parents or guardians who must make the decision for treatment. Issues of confidentiality, privacy, and consent must be addressed. When working with children, it is not only important to be able to connect with the pediatric patient, but also to be able to collaborate effectively with the caregivers, other family members, teachers, and school counselors/psychologists, all of whom will be able to provide important context and details to aid in your assessment and treatment plans. Some children/adolescents may be more difficult to assess than adults, as they can be less psychologically minded. That is, they have less insights into themselves and their motivations than adults (although this is not universally true). The PMHNP must also take into consideration the child’s culture and environmental context. Additionally, with children/adolescents, there are lower rates of neurocognitive disorders superimposed on other clinical conditions, such as depression or anxiety, which create additional diagnostic challenges. In this Discussion, you review and critique the techniques and methods of a mental health professional as the practitioner completes a comprehensive, integrated psychiatric assessment of an adolescent. You also identify rating scales and treatment options that are specifically appropriate for children/adolescents. RESOURCES Be sure to review the Learning Resources before completing this activity. Click the weekly resources link to access the resources. WEEKLY RESOURCES TO PREPARE Review the Learning Resources and consider the insights they provide on comprehensive, integrated psychiatric assessment. Watch the Mental Status Examination B-6 and Simulation Scenario-Adolescent Risk Assessment videos. Watch the YMH Boston Vignette 5 video and take notes; you will use this video as the basis for your Discussion post.

Module 2 Discussion No unread replies. No replies. Discussion 2 Hematopoietic: J.D. is a 37 years old white woman who presents to her gynecologist complaining of a 2-month history of intermenstrual bleeding, menorrhagia, increased urinary frequency, mild incontinence, extreme fatigue, and weakness. Her menstrual period occurs every 28 days and lately there have been 6 days of heavy flow and cramping. She denies abdominal distension, back-ache, and constipation. She has not had her usual energy levels since before her last pregnancy. Past Medical History (PMH): Upon reviewing her past medical history, the gynecologist notes that her patient is a G5P5with four pregnancies within four years, the last infant having been delivered vaginally four months ago. All five pregnancies were unremarkable and without delivery complications. All infants were born healthy. Patient history also reveals a 3-year history of osteoarthritis in the left knee, probably the result of sustaining significant trauma to her knee in an MVA when she was 9 years old. When asked what OTC medications she is currently taking for her pain and for how long she has been taking them, she reveals that she started taking ibuprofen, three tablets each day, about 2.5 years ago for her left knee. Due to a slowly progressive increase in pain and a loss of adequate relief with three tablets, she doubled the daily dose of ibuprofen. Upon the recommendation from her nurse practitioner and because long-term ibuprofen use can cause peptic ulcers, she began taking OTC omeprazole on a regular basis to prevent gastrointestinal bleeding. Patient history also reveals a 3-year history of HTN for which she is now being treated with a diuretic and a centrally acting antihypertensive drug. She has had no previous surgeries. Case Study Questions Name the contributing factors on J.D that might put her at risk to develop iron deficiency anemia.
